American Medical
Association (AMA) Foundation Award For Minority Scholars
The American Medical Assocation (AMA) Foundation grants
$10,000 school scholarships annually to students who belong to minority groups. Eligible students
include those who belong to any of these minority groups: American Indian, Alaska Native,
American/Black, Native Hawaiian and Hispani/Latino. Applicants should be current first-year or
second-year students and are permanent residents of the United States. Deans of medical schools or
their designated representatives are only allowed to nominate a maximum of two candidates per
year.
Scholarship
Amount:
The
totalamount of the scholarship awarded is $10,000, which can only be used
during the sophomore, junior or senior years. It is not renewable and the maximum number of awards per year
is 10.
Eligibility:
Only students who belong to minority groups (American
Indian/American Black/Hispanic/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian) and are either enrolled or planning to enroll
as a full-time student at a college or university are eligible to apply. This scholarship is only open
to citizens of the United States.
Academic Disciplines
This scholarship is open for students who are enrolled in the
health and medical sciences.
Requirements:
Submit all documents which include the application form,
official school transcript, an essay composition, financial need assessment, personal references and your
dean's nomination, not later than April 15.
